Your Role
As a facilitator, your role is to create a welcoming environment in which people feel encouraged to imagine new ideas and bring them to life through creative hands-on explorations. Rather than directly instructing, your focus as a facilitator is on providing a safe and inviting space where makers can experiment and learn from their own explorations.
Planning a camp can be a big project, but don’t worry. We have a section of the playbook designed to help you through it. Be sure to review the Camp Checklist, Preparing a Camp, Camp Materials, Promoting Your Camp, and more.
Need more guidance or looking for details? Review the materials in the Leading a Camp section. It includes information on Project Flow, Guiding Principles, Creative Competencies, Working with Kids, Staying Safe, Celebrating Accomplishments, and Sharing Camper Work.
We also have great written, video, and audio resources under Additional Resources to introduce you to important concepts of the Maker Movement as well as specific projects you can try. Check out Suggested Reading or Listen and Learn for more.
