STEP 1

Using a ruler and wire cutters, measure and snip six 6" pieces and two 2" pieces of craft wire or thin chenille stems for each Flickerbug. The 6" pieces are for legs, and the 2" pieces are antennas.

STEP 2

To attach the legs, poke the straight ends of the long wires into the sides of the eraser (three per side), and bend each wire down so that the curly ends become feet. To attach the antennas, poke the straight ends of the short wires on top of one end of the eraser.

STEP 3

Place the Glowie eyes on top of the eraser, between the antennas and extending past the Flickerbug's body. Tape the Glowie lengthwise to the eraser to hold it in place. (The wings will help hide the assembly.)

STEP 4

To make wings: Using wire cutters, cut a fat chenille stem to the desired length and bend it in half. Fasten the stem to the Flickerbug's back with a piece of tape wiggled into the the fuzz, and you're all done!

WHAT'S NEXT?

Want to make more? Try different-shaped bodies, or make spidery bugs with eight legs instead of six. Add black-paper batwings, toothpick stingers, googly eyes‚Äìjust about anything you can think of. They’re your bugs.
